The Pink Cardigan
The Pink Cardigan is a collection of stories about my upbringing in Albania during the communist years. Stories about love and loss, fear and hope, sacrifice and desire for freedom and liberty. True and simple tales about my family and relatives, my village and the culture during those years of hardship and change. Its a gift to my children who are born in the West and find hard to understand the history of Eastern Europe. And a gift to you who has a story and belong in one, I pray that together we can find the courage to tell, own and shape our lives through our stories.

Over one year ago, our family moved to the French Riviera after living in England for almost 14 years. That change affected more our children who were born and grown in the UK all their lives. Leaving behind friends and the familiar was hard enough, but having to face a new school, new language, and a new culture straightway made the move even more challenging.
Their struggles and difficulties made me understand that I was limited in helping them ( I could not go to school and comfort them for example), but their challenges did push me to pray. Prayer had always been something I did occasionally, in emergencies and of course in church, but now was turning into my way of living. I prayed simple, uncomplicated prayers. I started with one-word prayers that I sensed was what my children needed then and continue to pray to this day.
One Word Prayers for mums is an invitation into this journey that changed the way I thought I could help my children. I’ll walk this path with you, a path that takes us away from shouting, worrying, forcing and fixing our children, and toward a way that invites God to bring peace and rest, strength and direction, wisdom and protection into the lives of our children and us parents.
